Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Signed by artist on front endpaper, dated 1990. 9.5" x 11.5" softcover in black card wraps. 31pp. with color illustrations. Moderate scuffing and wear to front and rear covers and glossy titling. Front cover corners slightly frayed/creased. Occasional grey spots to rear cover. Page interiors bright and crisp. Catalogue accompanying an exhibition by the same name at Daniel Templon Gallery, Paris, 1990. Of these charcoal drawings and bronze sculptures of black American flags, Presca Ahn writes: "Longo is fascinated by the iconography of power and of violence, and it is certainly true that his more politicized works speak directly to the major anxieties that grip the popular imagination. His most overt engagement with America s legacy is the Black Flags series of distressed and blackened American flags of which the large and impressive cast paper print shown here is most iconic". Uncommon, in very good condition. Signed by Author(s).

This triptych by Robert Longo, created in 1990, exemplifies the artists signature fusion of photorealism and conceptual symbolism ** Composed of three panels, the work juxtaposes a serene blue sky with billowing clouds (on aluminum plates with C-print and screen print) against the stark presence of three bold red Xs, a recurring motif in Longos visual language. The central panel, a lead plate with color screen print, introduces an element of disruption, reinforcing the interplay between control and chaos that defines much of Longos oeuvre. The artwork is signed and numbered in felt-tip pen and black ink on the verso, (visible through plexiglas on reverse), signifying its authenticity and limited-edition status *** Professionally framed, in exclusive hand-made white wooden frame with PLEXIGLAS® Optical HC, which is scratch-resistant and UV-protected. Framed approx. 30 x 65 cm *** Known for his powerful monochromatic "Men in the Cities" series, Longo often explores themes of power, media influence, and human vulnerability. The three red Xs, placed with rhythmic precision, evoke both censorship and affirmation, a duality that speaks to the tensions of contemporary society *** The tripartite structure reflects a cinematic approach, reminiscent of Longos engagement with film, photography, and performance. By layering printed imagery with painterly interventions, this piece embodies his ability to manipulate the aesthetics of control and disruption. A striking example of Longos work from the early 1990s, this triptych captures his continued exploration of cultural symbols and their shifting meanings in a world saturated by media imagery ***** SHIPPING: Worldwide shipping available *** CONDITION: in very good condition *****. Size framed : approx. 70 x 90 cm. *** The elegant monochrome execution allows the embossed stars and stripes to subtly emerge from the surface, playing with light and shadow to create an almost ethereal effect. *** Robert Longo (b. 1953) is one of the most influential contemporary American artists, known for his highly detailed, hyperrealistic charcoal drawings and politically charged imagery. Rising to prominence in the early 1980s with his Men in the Cities series, Longo has continually explored themes of power, control, and cultural identity through his bold artistic vision.
