Encuadernación en pergamino del siglo dieciocho. Primera edición, de considerable rareza, completa de las 4 hojas de prólogo que suelen faltar a muchos ejemplares. La obra contiene noticias de los reyes de España desde Alarico, primer rey godo, e incluye diferentes capítulos dedicados a las antigüedades, la heráldica y modo de gobernar de los príncipes. El capítulo VIII, a partir de la página 61 (mal numerada 50), contiene noticias americanas: "De la grandeza y potencia del Reyno de España en si, y sus partes, y en lo que comprehender su gaande (sic) Monarchia con el descubrimiento, y conquista de las Indias, y nuevo mundo, y como España toda es un solo Reyno". Gregorio López Madera (1562-1649) fue un jurista de prestigio, consejero de los reyes Felipe II y Felipe III. En 1590 fue nombrado oidor de la Casa de Contratación y poco después fiscal en la Chancillería de Granada, cargo que desempeñó con notable pericia y dedicación. Escribió este libro, su trabajo más conocido, entre los años 1588 y 1592, pero no se imprimió hasta 1597. La finalidad de la obra ya queda reflejada en el título; se trataba de poner de relieve las virtudes y cualidades de la Monarquía española y situarla como modelo singular de organización política. Describe las tradiciones y normas sucesoras de la Monarquía hispánica, así como algunas de sus costumbres familiares y virtudes religiosas, con mención especial del tema del Monarca justo, al que dedica todo un capítulo con abundantes citas legales y doctrinales.Buen ejemplar, limpio y sin restauraciones a pesar de la mala calidad del papel.
