Jean Lorrain was a French poet and novelist of the Symbolist school, known for his numerous contributions to the satirical weekly Le Courrier Francais. This novel, originally publish…ed in 1901, is an example of the author's well known Decadent style. A lovely limited edition, illustrated with colourful woodcuts by Chapront. In 'Le Beaux Livres' series. In the original French.Number nine hundred and seven of nine hundred and fifty seven printed on Rives paper.Rebound in half morocco signed by a French binder, with the original wraps and spine bound in with the volume. Rebound in half morocco binding over marbled boards, with gilt to the top edge and marbled endpapers. The original wraps and spine are bound in with the volume. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a light fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. Illustrated with colourful woodcuts by Chapront. Near Fine.
