Some smudges and light soil marks throughout, but no writing. Tiny closed tear bottom of contents page. Beginning of hinge crack between pages 104/105 - as if book was opened and flattened. But binding is secure and tight. 239 pages - list of two other titles by authors at end of book. Illus endpapers and many wonderful b/w illustrations throughout. Story of Dale Scott, a young New York City boy who is sent to live with his dairy farm cousins for the summer in hopes of "toughening" him up. The boy who was considered a sissy in his city neighborhood - and also by his country cousin, Jud - learns self-confidence through hard work and simple living.
