Paperback. Condition: Good. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. B&W Illustrations; This book is entirely in GERMAN. Ex-Library book. This is an oblong paperback book with cardstock covers and a glued spine. The book is in Good only condition and was likely issued without a dust jacket. The book has a rectangular pastedown illustration on… the front cover. The spine ends of the book cover have chips and chunks missing. There is a partial library sticker on the top front corner. The text pages are generally clean and bright. Several of the first text pages have dog-earing to the bottom corners. About ten pages of architectural drawings have had the top edges mis-cut, chopping a tiny portion of the text. The book is illustrated throughout with mostly black and white illustrations of buildings / houses, etc. , and several full color illustrations. This copy is from the Library of San Jose State College, with the only library markings are ink stamps on the title page. "Wassili Luckhardt (22 July 1889 in Berlin 2 December 1972 in Berlin) was a German architect. He studied at the Technical University of Berlin (Technische Universität Berlin) and Dresden. Luckhardt and his brother Hans worked closely together for most of their lives. Both were members of the November Group (Novembergruppe) , the Arbeitsrat für Kunst, the Glass Chain and, from 1926, the progressive architecture group Der Ring. The brothers shared an office with the architect Alfons Anker (b. 1872, d. 1952). " "In the 1920s the brothers belonged to the 20th centuries rising architects. Originally Expressionist they then turned to modernism. Their buildings are typical examples with skeletons of steel or reinforced concrete. During National Socialism the Luckhardt brothers tried initially to reconcile their architecture with the new ruling powers and joined even the Nazi Party. It quickly became apparent however that the new regime required a different architectural language. They were professionally disqualified and could only build three single-family houses in this time, the exterior of which was made to blend in with the preferred style of the regime. " (both from Wikipedia).

Bauwelt-Verlag 1930. 4° 64pp. including 48 pages with 61 photographs on black background, one tipped-in colour plate. 28 x 30 cm. Original black covers with colour plate. ORIGINALEINBAND - ORIGINAL PUBLISHER'S WRAPPERS. First edition. (Der wirtschaftliche Baubetrieb, 3). "The book is mainly a pictorial documentation of the Luckh…ardt Brother s uncompromisingly abstract and cubic terrace of houses in the Dahlem district of Berlin and their steel-framed houses at 'Am Rupenhorn' in Berlin s Charlottenburg, both defining them as masters of refined International Style architecture. But the book also includes interiors and furniture displayed at the 1928 exhibition 'Heim und Technik' in Munich, photos of smal-apartment buildings models, etc. 'Zur neuen Wohnform' is one of the most attractively designed publications ever on International Style architecture, in itself a congenial expression of the Luckhardts Brothers aesthetic ideals" J. Dahlberg. Covers very slightly rubbed, but a very fine copy. Scarce in thiis excellent condition. Sprache: Deutsch. *** Bitte kontaktieren Sie uns immer BEVOR Sie bestellen!
