Die Frage nach der DDRLiteratur und den Avantgarden stellte sich uns im Laufe der Projektarbeit: Denn einerseits war im literarischen Ostberlin der persönliche Austausch nur ein Aspekt der Internationalisierung - auch neue Lese- und Rezeptionsmuster sowie ein wachsendes Interesse für transnationale Literaturbewegungen trugen dazu bei. Andererseits kristallisierte sich die »Hauptstadt« in den 1970er und 1980er Jahren als wichtiges Zentrum eines neuen Avantgarde-Interesses in der DDR heraus: sei es in institutionellen Kontexten wie der Akademie der Künste, bei einem Verlag wie Volk und Welt oder den literaturwissenschaftlichen Instituten der Humboldt-Universität, sei es in den Schriftstellerkreisen um Heiner Müller, Christa Wolf, Volker Braun und anderen.Einen besonderen Schwerpunkt innerhalb dieses Zusammenhangs bildet die als »DDR-Avantgarde« in die Literaturgeschichte eingegangene inoffizielle Kunst- und Literaturszene Ostberlins. Sie war Thema eines Masterseminars zur »Literatur des Prenzlauer Bergs«, das wir im Sommersemester 2021 am Institut für Deutsche und Niederländische Philologie der Freien Universität Berlin anboten. Mit großem Einsatz erarbeiteten die am Seminar teilnehmenden Studierenden im Laufe des Semesters interaktive Text-Bild-Collagen, Interviews, Audio-Features und Kurzfilme, die sich kreativ und medienübergreifend mit der inoffiziellen Literaturszene in der DDR auseinandersetzen.
