Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Elizabeth MacKinstry (illustrator). This offering is an ex-library copy, in good condition, of Peer Gynt written by Henrik Ibsen and decorated by Elizabeth MacKinstry. The book does have library markings, and library wear . . . and the look of an older Heritage Press book. The book as published by Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc. in 1929 and is a stated First Edition, though at best that would have to be an American First . . . as it's a translation of the original. It's not a small book, and it's heavy. The book is 7" by 11 1/8" and has 287"thick" pages with black-and-white illustrations throughout as well as several color plates which are not included in the page count. I'd heard of the book, but didn't realize that it's a play written in poem form. (This from a math major so you'll have to excuse my ignorance please.) Thank you!

Elizabeth Mackinstry adds new luster to this oldest of fairy tales with her pictures in gorgeous colors and carefully patterned black-and-white.
