This is the story of some of those daring young women. About the Author Enid Johnson MacLeod grew up in small towns in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. She graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1937 and while a resident in Montreal she worked with Dr. Harold Griffith in the first use of curare as a muscle relaxant during anaesthesia. She practised in Sydney, Nova Scotia after marrying Innis MacLeod, and in 1948, they moved to Dartmouth. From 1960 to 1976, she was in the Department of Physiology at Dalhousie Medical School. In 1978 she was named Professor Emeritus and received an honourary LLD degree from Dalhousie in 1985.
