40pp, (5.5 x 8.5 inches), b&w photos. Very Good in stapled wrappers (soft cover). Edges are a little sunned (tanned, three pages have red stamping advertising Rare Arts Records of Klamath Falls, OR (You can still read everything on those pages). A scribble at lower edge on both the front and back covers. Otherwise clean, crisp and bright. No bumps, tears or creases, no markings to text. Mainer was a fiddler from North Carolina who, with his group, was active from the 1930's to the 60's, known for both old time string music and bluegrass. This booklet contains lyrics for 33 songs, a one page introduction to Mainer and his music by John Cohen, a folksy essay about Mainer's career by Chris A. Strachwitz, several photos of the group. One caution: next to the song about the lynching of Tom and Joe for the murder of Emmer Hartsell, is a graphic photo of the two men hanging from a tree, dead.
