From Chapter XV: A Calendar and a List of Salads. "At the end of the summer reigns endives, which should be eaten without the addition of savoury herbs; but if you have a robust stomach, it is a treat to make a chapon - bread crust rubbed with garlic." Nignon who, according to Robert de Flers, "has a clever pen at the top of his roasting jack". The illustrations as to this delightful book with humor and charm. The covers are somewhat bowed, and the endpages are toned. The books seems to have been roughly opened and there are large chips along the lower marginal edge of 3 leaves- no text or illustration involvement. The dust jacket is worn, soiled and toned; the back flap has pink stain along the edge. No in a clear protective cover.
