Bei dem regen Verkehre, den Maly, namentlich in früheren Jahren, mit den meisten in Oesterreich lebenden Botanikern gepflogen, hatte derselbe ein Herbar zu Stande gebracht, welches beinahe die gänzliche Flora der Gesammtmonarchie repräsentiren konnte. Diese Sammlung, welche er später dem Joanneum abtrat, erweckte in ihm die Absicht, eine Flora Imperii Austriaci zu bearbeiten, aber unter der Arbeit gewahrte er, daß ihm für ein so großes und umfassendes Werk die Stadt Gratz nicht jene wissenschaftlichen Behelfe bieten konnte, die dazu unerläßlich waren; er beschränkte somit sein Vorhaben und stellte nur eine Aufzählung der phanerogamen Pflanzen des Kaiserthums zusammen, welche auch unter dem Titel: "Enumeratio plantarum phanerogamicarum Imperii Austriaci universi" erschien. - Exlibris a.d. With the bookplate of Charles Carmichael Lacaita, which is partially obscured by the bookplate of the nurserymen Walter and Will Ingwersen, and also with Will Ingwersen's own later bookplate. Lacaita was a notable gentleman botanist who collected many plants. He developed a fine garden at Selham, West Sussex, during which he no doubt developed contact with the Ingwersens, who inherited some of his library. [A flora of Styria - Central Austria.
