Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Illustrated by Marcellino, Fred [cover] (illustrator). First Edition. DJ has very slight shelfwear. A bright, attractive copy. "The New Confession is the outrageous, extraordinary, hilarious and heartbreaking [fictional] autobiography of John James Todd, a Scotsman born in1899 and one of the great self-appointed (and failed) geniuses of the 20th century. It takes us from Todd's boyhood in Scotland to the trenches of World War I, to his fretful progress as film maker in the Weimar Republic, to deportation and exile in Mexico and the Allied invasion of St. Tropez, and finally to dark Hollywood days, and the obscurity of the blacklist, during the McCarthy era. The New Confessions is told from the questionable vantage point of not-so-serene old age and self-imposed exile in the Mediterranean. Charming and exasperating, shrewd and foolish, vain and disarmingly candid, Todd lets us in on the secrets of his chaotic and beguiling life."; 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Condition: Hervorragend. Zustand: Hervorragend | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | In recent years, China's aspiration for global technology leadership has driven its significant investments in artificial intelligence (AI) for national security, economic growth, and societal well-being. Although there is increasing research and analysis on China's domestic AI development ecosystems and drivers, the details of China's development-financed AI exports remain elusive. Despite being the single-largest provider of foreign development assistance, Beijing does not participate in aid or debt transparency initiatives. To address this gap, researchers from the RAND Corporation and AidData jointly built a new database on China's AI export projects that are funded with official development financing: China's AI Exports Database (CAIED). CAIED uses data from multiple public databases and indexes related to China's global financing and recipient countries' electoral democracy, freedom, and data protection and privacy status. In this report, the authors analyze this quantitative dataset--adding qualitative country case studies based on interviews and social media analysis--to examine the distribution, technology, financing, and data safety aspects of China's AI exports.

Zustand: Sehr gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | This report presents a quantitative assessment of how the presentation of news has changed over the past 30 years and how it varies across platforms. Over time, and as society moved from "old" to "new" media, news content has generally shifted from more-objective event- and context-based reporting to reporting that is more subjective, relies more heavily on argumentation and advocacy, and includes more emotional appeals.
