In the original publisher's paper covered boards, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart. Spots to the boards, heavier to the rear board. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Bookplate to the verso of the front endpaper. Dust wrapper is a little edge worn with some spots, including spots to the reverse, and a small closed tear to the tail of the front wrap. Spine is age-toned. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots to the first and last few pages. Near Fine. book.

Pictorial hardcover with illustrated endpapers, about ten inches tall, with matching illustrated dustjacket. The book has light rubbing to the spine ends, good hinges, firm text block, very clean pages with no names or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is subtly and evenly age-toned and has a three inch closed tear to the outer edge of the rear panel, a few short old tape repairs, minor closed tear to the eop edge of the front panel, small chip to spine above the publisher name, additional small chip at rear edge of spine head, very little paper loss overall. The handwritten, undated note thanks a Mr. Taft [?] returning a book signed by the author, apparently not this book, and is signed Yours Sincerely, Walter de la Mare. It measures about 4.5 inches by 7 inches and is in very good condition with a vertical crease from folding. With Letter By the Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Pictorial cloth - the trade edition was issued in paper boards. Thirty-two poems. Considered something of a landmark in book illustration, according to Horne's The Dictionary of 20th Century British Book Illustrators, "the flat colours strike the eye as something quite new." One of 100 numbered copies signed by the author and the artist. Very good indeed in good dustwrapper nicked and rubbed at the edges with a violent tear to the lower outside corner of upper panel, which is somewhat off-set by the fact the dustwrapper repeats the cover design.
