Trade paperback, New, 262 pp. Cover artwork by: Mark Shepard "LIGHTNING STRIKES TWICE: When Evan returns to his Midwestern home from life in the city, he finds that nothing much has changed. Everyone's a little bit older, and they still talk about the weather. But though no one wants to be the first to bring it up, he discovers that his Uncle Win has tried to kill himself. Little Harriet, his daughter, thinks Mr. Stanley is involved. After all, he is supposedly having an affair with her mother. Then Win is found dead from what looks like a self-inflicted gunshot, and Aunt Nell, Win's overly-dramatic ex-wife, was the last person to see him. This all looks too suspicious to Evan to be suicide. So with Little Harriet crying murder, he decides to find out just what did happen to his Uncle Win. THE TRASH STEALER: It all begins with a holdup at the bar where Joe works. A man is killed, and it's Joe's fault. The man's daughter shows up. Cynthia is spoiled, selfish and completely contrary-and Joe finds himself strangely attracted to her. He follows her back to her family in New York City, where he finds an equally contrary group of characters. They all seem to be bickering over a missing diamond necklace that is all that's left of Gran's inheritance. Cynthia's cousin Ned is convinced that she and Joe have been conspiring together to steal the necklace. Ned's parents are convinced that Cynthia is hiding it disguised as a gift for her boyfriend. And all Joe wants to do is assuage his guilt while trying to protect the infuriating Cynthia from herself.".

Trade paperback, New, 294 pp. Cover artwork by: Mark Shepard Jean Potts began her writing career in the early 1940s with a mainstream novel filled with family secrets, and a series of small-town short stories she wrote for magazines like Woman's Home Companion, Woman's Day, McCall's and Liberty. These were stories about family relationships-disputes, misunderstandings, challenges-that paved the way for the crime novels she began to write in the mid-1950s. In 1954, Potts won the Best First Novel Edgar Award for Go, Lovely Rose. In 1957 she produced her first crime story for Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine called "The Withered Heart." She followed this with six more superb short stories before the end of her writing career in 1990. Stark House has collected the entire published output of Jean Potts' short fiction, including her mainstream beginnings and her latter-day crime fiction treasures. Twenty insightful gems from the mistress of psychological mystery. Jean Potts.

SB 2007 218pp BW PhotographsPublished Price £9.95 On New Yearâs day 1915, the aged British battleship HMS Formidable was sunk by the German submarine U-24 - the first such sinking of a major capital ship by a U-Boat in the Great War. The authors, intirigued by the listing of four of Formidableâs crew on their local war memorial in Crewe, set about reconstructing the Formidableâs almost forgotten story. They have succeeded magnificently, and, in a lavishly illustrated book that does honour to amateur historians everywhere, they recreate a fascinating and tragic story. Along with the story of the ship, its sinking, and the life stories of several of its crew, the book lists all 547 seamen who went down with their ship, the wreck site of which is now a protected War Grave.
