Printed in 1698 by the Seminarium Press in Patavii, Alcorani Textus Universus by Ludovicus Marraccio presents a complete Latin translation of the Quran in parallel with its Arabic text. The edition opens with a prefatory section titled Prodromus ad Refutationem Alcoran, framing the volume as a Catholic response to Islamic theology. Marraccio, a professor of Arabic and Catholic cleric, compiled this text not for comparative study but to confront doctrinal differences from a Christian perspective. The work played a role in 17th-century theological literature and remains one of the earliest printed translations of the Quran into Latin based on Arabic sources. Format: Folio (14.5 x 10.25 inches). Collation: [10], 45, [2], 46, [2], 81, [3], 94, [9], 126, [3]. Binding: Original hardcover boards, showing visible stains and edge wear. Condition: Good; the text block is tight and secure, and the volume is complete. Language: Latin and Arabic. #29194 PHOTOS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
