A small format edition of the original Mars / Squire edition published by Russell in 1900, with some artwork omitted. Illlustrated with line art, monochromatic and color artwork. Mars and Squire met at the Cincinnati Art Academy in Ohio and would remain partners in work and life, moving from Ohio to NYC to France and Provincetown MA and eventually back to France where they both died in the mid-1950s. While living in France they became friends with Gertrude Stein and were part of her salon. Mars and Squire also developed the printing technique commonly referred to as the Provincetown Print (see entry in GLBTQ dot com). Size: Square 8vo.
