Contents clean and bright. Born in Budapest in 1924, Gregory Marton graduated as a lieutenant from the Royal Hungarian Military Academy in 1944. The following year he spent as a fighting soldier. He spent the next few years studying in Germany, emigrating to Australia in 1949. At first he earned his living by manual work, but was then employed as a Civil Servant in New South Wales. He devoted much of his time to writing, in Hungarian, verse, plays and stories; The Boy and His Friend the Blizzard was his first work in the English language.Brian Lawrence Wildsmith (22 January 1930 31 August 2016) was a British painter and children's book illustrator. He won the 1962 Kate Greenaway Medal for British children's book illustration, for the wordless alphabet book ABC. In all his books, the illustrations are always as important as the text.
