It follows the lives of the residents of Crague, a sleepy seaside town, whose lives stand frozen in time. The tranquillity of Crague is only disrupted by the arrival of a group of young people on a fishing expedition. The idyllic setting and blissful ignorance of the young people are in stark contrast with the troubled hearts and minds of the older generation. The author explores the themes of love, disappointment, ambition, and the choices we make in the face of adversity. The novel captures the beauty and transience of youth and the resilience of the human spirit. The author weaves a rich tapestry of vivid imagery and engaging characters that will stay with the reader long after the final page is turned. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. This book offers an insightful glimpse into the lives of Long Island's East End inhabitants during the American Revolution, particularly focusing on the courage and patriotism of women who remained at home while their loved ones went to war. The author draws from historical records to weave a compelling narrative that brings to life the challenges faced by these women as they toiled, endured, and waited in support of their country's fight for independence. The sacrifices and resilience of this community serve as a poignant reminder of the lesser-known but equally profound contributions made by civilians during wartime.
