Soft cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Enzo Cucchi. Costume interiore. Barbero Luca Massimo and Bonito Oliva Achille. Macro Museo d'art contemporanea, Roma, Italia. 2010. approx. 80p. saddle stitched pb pamphlet, covers bumped scuffed, solid binding, text clean. Bilingual Italian / English - Edizione bilingue italiano/inglese--Inaugurated at the Capodimonte Museum in Naples in the summer of 2009 and later shown at MACRO in Rome, the exhibition Interior Costume premieres in the States at the IIC of Los Angeles and San Francisco. Enzo Cucchi, one of the most original and visionary members of the Transavanguardia movement, presents an installation in which he displays his symbolic vision of the universe. Achille Bonito Oliva, curator of the exhibition and founder of the Transavanguarde movement states that when Enzo Cucchi s work - painting, drawing, sculpture - becomes architecture, Interior Costume, an exhibition of floating images on paper as anthropomorphic shapes, does indeed compete with the Tower of Babel. The exhibition is accompanied by a bilingual catalogue designed by the artist and published by Incontri Internazionali d Arte directed by Graziella Lonardi Buontempo. Preface by Nicola Spinosa, Supervisor of the Naples Museum Hub. Event organized by Italian Cultural Institute, Los Angeles in collaboration with Associazione Incontri Internazionali d Arte, Soprintendenza Speciale per il Patrimonio Storico Artistico Etnoantropologico and Polo Museale di Napoli, Museo di Capodimonte, Napoli, e Istituto Italiano di Cultura, San Francisco.---15.00.

Paperback. Condition: New. During the Festival of Nouveau Réalisme (New Realism) in Milan in November 1970, Christo removed the white cloth in which he had wrapped the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II in the Piazza del Duomo and placed it over the Monument to Leonardo da Vinci in the Piazza della Scala. This is viewed today as a key event in the contemporary art scene in Milan, a moment that Luigi and Peppino Agrati experienced live. They immediately contacted the artist and commissioned him to create works for the garden of their villa. Wealthy entrepreneurs, the Agrati brothers shared subtle and sensitive insights into art that fostered a deep understanding of the images that shaped their era. This show is the first time their collection is being revealed to the public, through a representative selection of Italian and American works of art donated with generosity and foresight by Luigi Agrati to the Intesa Sanpaolo. From a nucleus of sculptures by Melotti to masterpieces by Fontana, Burri, and Klein, the exhibition provides an in-depth examination of Italian 'Nuova Figurazione' painting ('New Figurative Painting'), working its way to the roots of the new 'Arte Povera' ('Poor Art'). The discovery of American art coincides with the Agratis' acquisition of works by the principal exponents of Pop Art - including the iconic Andy Warhol and his monumental Triple Elvis - and by the Minimalists, of which Dan Flavin's large neon work dedicated to Peppino Agrati is emblematic. In a kind of multiple constellation side by side with examples of Italian art, the collection reveals extraordinary works by Robert Rauschenberg (acquired in large numbers from the end of the 1960s to the 1980s), Cy Twombly (the original mediator between American and Italian art), and conceptual artists like Bruce Nauman and Joseph Kosuth, whose experiments with language are displayed in a dialogue with those by Alighiero Boetti and Vincenzo Agnetti.

Milano, Claudia Gian Ferrari Arte Conemporanea, 19 gennaio - 10 marzo 2009.Milano, CLAUDIA GIAN FERRARI, 19 gennaio - 28 febbraio 2009.Testo Italiano e Inglese.Milano, 2009; ril., pp. 80, 19 ill. b/n e col., cm 25x27,5. "The image of darkness is a frequent presence, perhaps, it is one of the most insistent in my work, (.) it is like a doubt insinuated to the eye of the beholder (.). Birth and death are linked to darkness, which is the hidden place where images and ideas take shape. It is the first mirror image of men (.), the metaphor of the end, of nothingness, and nothingness is the only star." With these words, Parmiggiani explains his relationship with darkness, a symbolic constant through all his research. His works are created with a passage of fire-destructive but lively, vibrant, violent-which leaves unchangeable traces of mystery and anguish after passing. Time leaves its traces: signs of memories, remains of dust and rests of shapes are the core of a melancholic nostalgia, aware of a completeness lost forever, of which there are only vestiges. There is something magical-like Vulcan's cavern-as well as prodigious in setting the unpredictable paths of smoke and ash through which Parmiggiani challenges destruction with memory. Reviewing Luigi Ontani's recent New York retrospective at P.S. 1 for Artforum, Brooks Adams wrote, "Luigi Ontani is that rare bird of art: an unforgettable face, a world-class dandy and a redoubtable if lovably eccentric presence on the international art-world circuit Ontani's work makes his own self-portrait-as-androgyne central to the myth of all creation: This is narcissism transformed into a powerful-and redemptive-force of nature, a kind of male fecundity." Marbleharmony documents new sculptural works that Ontani produced for his 2007 exhibition at the historically important Gallery Gian Ferrari in Milan. Its title borrows from one of the key pieces in the show, a marble sculptural portrait of artist sitting on a book, with another in his hand, and a rainbow surrounding him from behind. Ontani was born in Vergato, Italy, in 1943. He has been considered one of Italy's most important artists since the 1970s. His work was most recently shown at Bortolami Gallery, New York. Libro.
