Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First Edition Volume II. 72 Pages. The National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico is being built in the neighborhood of Barelas, in the city of Albuquerque. The Center is located along the Camino Real, used by the Conquistadors over four hundred years ago when they left Mexico en route to the north, eventually founding the State's capital, Santa Fe, in 1609. For four hundred years, Hispanic influence has had a strong presence in New Mexico. People of Hispanic origin settled in this region, assimilated with the existing cultures, and welcomed new settlers of different backgrounds. While nurturing this diversity, New Mexico has remained constant to a core Hispanic heritage, and this is reflected in the State's arts and culture to this day. The Center's programming will reflect the arts and culture of New Mexico, including the performing, visual, literary, media and culinary arts. The National Hispanic Cultural Center of New Mexico is both a stage and a laboratory, where the different manifestations of Hispanic influence in the Americas - traditional, modern and contemporary - will be studied and presented to the Hispanic and non-Hispanic world. The Center will also work in partnership with long-standing arts organizations from New Mexico as well as from the countries with the strongest influence in the cultural make-up of the region, Spain and Mexico. This book tells the story of how the Center came about, how it is structured and the kind of programs it develops. The Hispanic Center is a tribute to our history, culture and art as well as to the members of the Hispanic community of New Mexico who brought this dream to reality.

Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. 111 pp. First edition. A scholarly dissertation on the Carnaval paradigm; text in Portuguese; black and white photographs throughout. . . . Size: 21 x 23 cm. 0.0.
