The frontispiece of William Shakespeare has been lightly scribbled on with pencil. There was sticker of 3 Kewpies pasted on the copyright page and some of the sticker has stuck to the following page. After that, the pages are fine. Copyright date of 1907, no other print date given. These stories have been retold by E. Nesbit. Illustrated with many new color plates and fine pen drawings by Max Bihn. Edited and arranged by E. T. Roe. 317 pages. End papers are green with white flower decorations. Back inside endpaper is torn from the bottom about 1/2 way up. On backside of ffep, there is a Christmas gift inscription to PO, dated Christmas, 1911. Frontispiece is loose half-way. Page edges are decorative red and yellowish design. This book has a red cover with gold print on spine. The cover of this book has much wear and it has been laminated. So the contents of the book are in good condition, the cover is in poor condition--thus a "FAIR" condition overall. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Condition is VG: quite clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Pages creamy white with moderate tanning, completely unmarked save for old gift inscription to verso of frontis. Exterior shows rather heavy rubbing to extremities, with heavy bumping (& some cloth loss) to corners & both ends of spine. Red circular "This is a SAALFIELD book" on bottom corner of front cover, with "Made in the U. S. A." below it. Nice color and black and white illustrations by Max Bihn. In acceptable condition. Illustrated covers have a 1" tear along the bottom of the front cover and a few other small nicks and tears and creasing along edges. Moderate overall soiling and aging to covers as well. Covers are split along fold of spine from bottom up to first staple but pages are still attached. Previous owner's gift inscription in ink on inside of front cover (first page of story. Otherwise pages are lightly aged but unmarked with occasional light spotting and soiling. NOT Ex-Library.
