Still an attractive copy of this 14th installment in the Lonsdale Library series that is edited by Maydon and features a number of different contributors.

Bound in full dark blue morocco with 5 raised bands and gilt titles to spine and gilt "Lonsdale Library" emblem to front board in good condition with split to side of spine, rubbing to edges, wear and chipping to spine and some marking to boards. Inside armorial bookplate of Douglas Service to front paste down, except for some sporadic mild foxing all rough cut pages and plates with top edge gilt in very good clean condition with many uncut pages.

The accounts of early hunting expeditions into Africa, mainly post WW I till the late 1920s, must be read to be believed. In these days one could hire porters and animals such as donkeys or camels and trek into the interior for weeks, sometimes months, on end and essentially shoot without limit, albeit the contributing authors display a remarkable self-restraint when it came to selective hunting. Contributors include; Major H.C. Maydon, H.R.H. the Duke of Gloucester, R. Akroyd, Captain G. Blaine, Lt.-Col. R.E. Drake-Brockman, Major F.D. Browne, Major G. Burrard, A.L. Butler, Major A.L.
