ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (s/hand, Hardcover, 1950). 1950 1st edition. 4to (190 x 245mm). Pp96. Colour frontispiece, b/w photographs, illustrations. Binding B: Dark blue cloth, spine titled in red. Boards rather used, corner slightly bumped, spine titles barely legible, some tanning and gift inscription to end-paper but a good copy, lacks dust-wrapper. An astute and amusing collection of essays on trout and grayling fishing, and flies and their imitation, largely based on the Tweed and other Border waters, and on Loch Leven and Cobbinshaw Loch, with occasional excursions to the south. The author was an innovative angler, describing his use of the dry fly on the hitherto predominantly wet-fly waters of the north, and his preference for the use of imitative flies on lakes such as Loch Leven, still at that time, a stronghold of the fancy fly. In this he may have been influenced by his close friend, G.E.M. Skues, who provides a lengthy and interesting Introduction. Norman McCaskie was the older brother of H.B. McCaskie. .

ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 1950). 1950 1st edition. Small 8vo (130 x 190mm). Pp176. Not illustrated. Coarse-textured oatmeal cloth, upper board and spine titled in gilt. Some use, fading and tanning to cloth, lacks front end-paper. Reading copy, lacks dust-wrapper. "Dr. McCaskie writes of the dry fly from long experience, dating back to 1895 on the Tweed, when this method was almost unknown in the North. It is his considered opinion that the trout is a creature of very low intelligence, as indeed it must be biologically; when the angler credits it with the higher education, he is either blindly swallowing tradition or searching to excuse a defeat that is racially humiliating. In tilting at old idols Dr. McCaskie may shock some readers but should not offend them, for he has a light touch and shuns dogmatism." Much on dry fly fishing, chapters on loch fishing, on the Derbyshire Wye and on the Usk. .

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. Very decent clean, bright copy. Clean, fresh looking navy blue cloth boards with red title lettering on the spine. No inscriptions, although a little toned/foxed at the page block edge. Owner book plate on front paste down page and inscription on the ffep opposite. Dust jacket not in the best condition and is a little faded, foxed and has significant edge wear and loss at the extremities. None of which effects the title lettering. Not price clipped. Still a fairly presentable copy despite the flaws in the dust jacket.
