This is Volume I: The World and Its Peoples, edited by J. Ralph McGaughey, Ph.D., with contributions from Marion F. Lansing, A.M., and Roma Gans, Ph.D. Bound in ornate blue embossed lea…therette with gilt spine titling and a vivid color front paste-on of an astronomer at his telescope. Illustrated endpapers show a golden world panorama of exploration and wildlife, with hundreds of color and black-and-white images throughout - including a striking chromolithographic -Paleozoic Swamp. Publisher's original descriptive leaflet for Volume I ('I Am Volume One - The World and Its Peoples') remains tipped to the front endpaper, outlining sample questions and page references. A scarce marketing insert seldom retained. Condition: Fine+, tight binding, bright pages, no markings; gilt and cover art vivid. A standout example of mid-century educational design and publishing craftsmanship.
