Condition: Very Good. Tan paper. 20 x 8 cm. Handwritten in brown ink. No location given. Undated but probably 2nd half of the 19th century. 19 x 7.5 cm. Signed by William McQueen and witnessed by Samuel McQueen. We were told by the collector from whom we acquired this that the Samuel McQueen who witnessed this was the African American in Athens, Georgia who had the most prominent barber shop in Athens, Georgia. There is not enough detail here to have much confidence in that belief. We did not find any examples of the bartber's signature online. Perhaps some scholar or collector knows more than we do about the barber and his signature.
