The artist came from France and was given three years to complete his project. This pamphlet tells the story about this work as well as about other pieces, including coinage, etc. An appendix gives information about Houdon's life and other anecdotal information. VG interior, but covers are soiled.

Soft Cover. Condition: near Very Good binding. A neat little pamphlet, full of interesting stuff: "Paris, July 12th, 1785. Mr. Jefferson writes to the Virginia Delegates in Congress as follows: '.I have engaged Monsieur Houdon to make the statue of General Washington. For this purpose it is necessary for him to see the General. He therefore goes with Dr. Franklin, and will have the honor of delivering you this himself."
