Er eröffnete eine Praxis mit einem eigenen Labor.[1] 1919 erhielt er den Professorentitel. 1920 wurde er an der Universität Köln habilitiert, die ihn ein Jahr später zum außerordentlichen Professor ernannte. Er war Vorsitzender der Kölner Ärztekammer und Mitglied der Deutschen Demokratischen Partei. Am 24. Professor ernannt. 1939 emigrierte er nach England, 1847 wanderte er in die USA aus. Er forschte zu den Ursprüngen des Melanins, 1906 bewies er bei Unna, daß die Epidermis Melanin produzieren kann. Das Meirowsky-Phänomen, die Bräunung der Haut durch hohe Temperaturen, ist nach ihm benannt. Seine Tochter Lisamaria, die ebenfalls Ärztin war, wurde im KZ Auschwitz-Birkenau ermordet. Meirowsky betrieb grundlegende Forschungen zum Entstehen von Muttermalen und anderen angeborenen Veränderungen der Haut. Er trug zur Erkenntnis der Vererbung dieser Hautveränderungen maßgeblich bei. In diesem Zusammenhang führte er den Begriff "Genodermatose" ein. Er veröffentlichte über 150 Artikel zum Thema d. Dermatovenerologie. Er war Mitglied in zahlreichen europ. dermatologischen Vereinigungen. Er war u.a. Ehrenmitglied d. Gesellschaft für investigative Dermatologie und Mitglied der Rudolf Virchow Mediz.
