Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: very good. First Edition. Octavo, 248 pages, red cloth; dj nicked. NOTE: this is an early, rare example of a wrap-around pictorial dj. The dj art is by Morris Davidson, who had 80 one-man shows in NYC, and was a founder of the American Federation of Modern Painters and Sculptors. This dust jacket art is one of the earliest in his career. "The Mahoning River is one of the beauty spots of the old Keystone State. When Autumn comes the . foliage . with the sunshine upon the silvery waters of the river all combine to attract the thought, mind and eye of the traveler. . Such is the scene in the valley in which my story opens, where the hero learned to use the revolver and wrestle with men." - Introduction. This novel was made into a 6-reel silent movie, "Glory of Youth", later re-named " The Prince in Pledge ". One of the exciting highlights of the film was a head-on train wreck. NOTE: contrary to someone else's description, the Waif is a boy, not a girl, and the wreck is a train wreck in western Pennsylvania, and not a shipwreck on the Atlantic coast. FYI.
