Estudio en Salamanca y tuvo de profesor al famoso humanista Francisco Sánchez de las Brozas, el Brocense. Residió en Sevilla y se relacionó con Fco. De Herrera, Luís Barahona de Soto, Fco. Pacheco y Fco. De Medina. Residió en Italia y fue amigo de Torcuato Tasso. En 1591 regreso a Madrid y trabó gran amistad Miguel de Cervantes. Poema en octavas dividido en diez "libros". Una de las composiciones la dedica a Cervantes. Esta es la mejor obra del autor. Según Palau se sabe que se tiraron 1500 ejemplares. Ejemplar de la Biblioteca Nacional con la portada a mano.
