Series: Le Chemin "Le projet de cette étude est de montrer que, si l'écriture est une tension vers l'unité du livre et du vivre, le discours sur l'écriture, lui, pour rendre compte de ce qui se passe en elle, doit lui être homogène, tirer de l'écriture ses critères et ses concepts, tourner le dos à la pensé dualiste qui règne encore dans l'enseignement de la littérature. Ainsi cette recherche ne peut pas ne pas être polémique. Ce projet, qui n'est pas seulement d'hygiène mais de construction, implique une linguistique qui ne disjoint pas le signifiant du signifié, ni l'oral de l'écrit. Une théorie de la littérature, formée par la linguistique, remet à son tour la linguistique en question, si celle-ci, qui réussit devant les énoncés courants, échoue devant tout ce qui est texte ne pouvant y voir enfin que de la langue plus du " style ". Les écrivains, laboratoires de la modernité, en même temps qu'ils ont miné la pensée de la littérature par genres ou par formes (" proses " ou " poésie ") ont effacé pour eux-mêmes la distinction entre texte et discours sur le texte. Ce sont les données de départ pour définir les conditions d'un langage critique. Intégrer la linguistique à l'écriture est une des nécessités alors impliquées. Poser les questions : qu'est-ce qu'un mot poétique, qu'est-ce qu'un texte, qu'est-ce qu'une uvre, qu'est-ce que la valeur? Mène à renvoyer dos à dos scientisme et subjectivisme, formalisme et thématique, tous également inopérants, pour instaurer des concepts qui découvrent l'unité de fonctionnement et de sens dans un texte (et non dans des structures abstraites ou dans une rhétorique) d'une forme et d'une histoire. C'est cette recherche d'un langage textuel qui n'est pas seulement pris comme un tissu complexe, mais présence et action de l'inconscient autant que l'histoire (texte quand il nous fonde dans le fabuleux) qu'on appelle ici la poétique.".
