Paperback. Condition: Very good. First. "Michael Steiner" is the short title for an exhibit by that abstract sculptor that appeared from March 22 through April 28, 1974 at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Steiner workedand still worksprimarily in steel, but the photographs in this catalog include pieces he had done in other media prior to 1974, and, more importantly, works that had already been destroyed by the time of the exhibition. He began exhibiting in 1962 at the age of only 18 and became a leading member of what was called the "Bennington School," a group of abstract artists with ties to Bennington College. His current work, in what his gallery calls "transparent stainless steel," explores the legacy of Cubism. His sculptures can be found in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Storm King Arts Center, among others. In all, the exhibition catalog includes fifteen black-and-white photographs, a list of exhibitions of Steiner's works, and an extensive bibliography in 24 pages. It is a slim volume between stapled wraps. The staples show signs of rust that has not transferred to the wraps or the internal pages themselves. There are some light, small creases on the covers and at the bottom corner of two pages. There is a spot of rubbing by the fore edge inside the front cover and some more rubbing on the last page, but otherwise there are no marks of any kind.
