First edition, first printing (not stated). 132 pages. Paperback; H 19.25cm x L 13.25cm. Color pictorial illustrated paper covers well soiled and stained, spine ends nicked, some creasing and curling at corners. Front and rear cover illustration shows Indians leaving their tepees and traveling up a hill towards a church (certainly a hint to the book's perspective). Strong soiling to edges. Past owner's green ink signature on front cover's blank verso. Half-title/frontispiece leaf detached and now laid-in. Binding otherwise reasonably firm with occasional brown staining/foxing upon interior leaves and some bumping and creasing at page corners. Only a good copy at best but an uncommon publication. With Introduction by P.D. Miller, Foreword, and seven b/w images on three unpaged leaves amongst text (plus frontis plate). Five chapters titled as: "Original Trails;" "Early Mission Trails;" "Beyond the Great River;" "Indian Schools;" and "Trails of Tomorrow." Author's Foreword opens with the following: "This little book is an attempt . . . to present the story of Indian missions, and more especially the part taken by our own Church in this great movement." The Library of Congress online catalog specifies that the book had a first printing in April 1932 with a second printing in October 1932; presumably this copy is a first printing as its copyright page has no statement regarding the October issue. A history professor at Southeastern State Teachers College (now Southeastern Oklahoma State University) at Durant, Oklahoma, William Brown Morrison (1877-1944) also authored "Oklahoman Abroad; A Summer Travelog" (1928) and "Military Posts and Camps in Oklahoma" (1936).
