Zweifellos ist es auch kein Zufall, daß der Titel von Erziehung spricht; denn hier wird immerhin eine bestimmte Erziehung im Gegensatz zum Bild der Ausschweifung betrieben. Sie beruft sich auf den Namen der Natur und tritt somit in einen programmatischen Gegensatz zu Rousseaus Erziehungswerk >Emile<, in dem die Tugend - ebenfalls unter Berufung auf die Natur - groß geschrieben wird. Die Quintessenz von Mirabeaus Werk ist ein Aufruf zum zwanglosen Zusammenleben, zur Toleranz und schließlich und endlich zu echter Partnerbindung. Presumibile contraffazione dell'edizione originale di questo libretto, poi ripubblicato suddiviso in due parti con le note di Dumont-Pigalle e Marron. In questo pamphlet, come è noto, Mirab…eau solidarizzava con i patrioti dei Paesi Bassi e con Gugliemo d'Orange contro l'invasione prussiana, incitandoli a difendere la loro aspirazione alla libertà. Famoso come anticipazione della "Declaration des droits de l'homme et du citoyen", enunciandone in XXVI punti i principi fondamentali, come: "Tous les hommes sont nés libres et egaux"; "Tous pouvoir étant émané du peuple, les différens magistrats où officiers. lui doivent comte dans tous le temps"; "Le peuple pour le bonheur de qui le gouvernement est institué, a le droit inaliénable de le réformer, de le corriger, ou de le changer"; " Toutes les élections doivent étre libres"; "Le peuple a le droit de s'assembler pour consulter sur le bien commun". Sono gli stessi principi che Mirabeau sosterrà poi nel 1789 agli Stati Generali e all'Assemblea Costituente. Esemplare con firma d'appartenenza nel margine bianco interno del frontespizio e delle prime 2 pp.: "Giulio de Benedetti, 1 giugno 1884"; ex-libris settecentesco "Ex bibliotheca De Cardenas" (il bibliofilo torinese Giuseppe de Cardenas, conte di Valeggio). Lievi fioriture sparse nei margini esterni bianchi, mancanza all'angolo superiore di p. 31. Book.
