Soft cover. Condition: Good. Film program. Booklet, self-wrappers, 8vo, 16 pp., stapled at centerfold. Printed on slick paper. Good copy, separating along hinge fold at top for a couple of inches (ca. 5 cm). The program was once pasted down in a scrapbook; on the back page there are traces of glue around the edges and a small hole near the inside edge and a closed rough tear of a few cm along the inside edge. This was the inaugural film for this luxuriously decorated (judging from the list of participating artisans) movie theater, which was housed in the headquarters building of the newspaper "L'Intransigéant," whose editor was a film buff. The artistic director of the movie house was Henry Lartigue. The feature film was preceded by music and various shorts, including an Ub Iwerks animated film. Illustrated with stills and portraits of the female lead, Nina Mae McKinney, and the male lead, Daniel Haynes. A rare survival. McKinney's performance put her on the road to stardom but she ran up against the lack of opportunities afforded her by the Hollywood system. She was the subject of a retrospective at the Film Forum in New York City in 2021 which received attention in the New York Times and cast light on her career.
