According to the preface, "In editing this little book the object is to keep this collection of recipes together for personal use and also for the use of those who are interested in home cooking. These recipes are not entirely new or original, but have been collected from relatives and friends during many years. They have been tried and proven good." Recipes include East Indian Chicken Curry, formula for curry powder, pineapple and coffee ice cream, and Mexican pinoche; a section titled "Beverages" contains 13 alcoholic cocktail recipes, including Maryland egg nog, fish house punch, and mint julep; a section titled "Remedies" prints medicinal remedies including recipes for a "nerve remedy", hair tonic, cough medicine. An attractive copy with mild toning to pages and soiling to covers.
