Kanten vom Rauch gegilbt u. ansonsten nur stellenweise mit moderaten Randknittern (siehe auch meine Fotos) [m]^--- Klappentext: Der 1895 in Ungarn geborene Lâszlo Moholy-Nagy gehört zu den vielseitigsten Künstlern des 20. Jahrhunderts. Nach einer Verwundung im Ersten Weltkrieg begann er 1917 zu zeichnen und zu malen. Über Wien kam er 1920 nach Berlin. Schon 1923 wurden seine Arbeiten im "Sturm" in Berlin gezeigt. Im selben Jahr berief ihn Walter Gropius als Leiter des Vorkurses und der Metallwerkstatt an das Bauhaus in Weimar und Dessau, das er 1928 mit Gropius verließ. Über Holland und England emigrierte Moholy-Nagy in die USA, wo er 1937 die Leitung des "New Bauhaus" übernahm. Die pädagogische Arbeit setzte er in der "School of Design" in Chicago fort, wo er bereits 1946 starb. Moholy-Nagy war einer der Pioniere der modernen Typografie und Werbegrafik und verband als einer der ersten typografische Elemente mit fotografischen. Für Generationen von Werbegrafikern wurden seine Prospekte und Umschläge zu den "bauhausbüchern" (die er zusammen mit Walter Gropius herausgab) wegweisend. Auch in der Bühnengestaltung wirkte er beispielgebend. Vor allem aber malte und experimentierte er mit transparenten Materialien. Schon 1922 begann Moholy-Nagy mit seinen Studien zur Kinetik, die 1930 in der ersten großen kinetischen Plastik der Kunstgeschichte - "dem Licht-Raum-Modulator" - gipfelten. Die von KUNSTVERLAG WEINGARTEN herausgegebene umfassende Monographie über Moholy-Nagy zeigt seine "verschwenderische Vielseitigkeit" (Walter Gropius) auf, ergänzt durch seine Schriften und zahlreiche zeitgenössische Dokumente.
