Same owner's extensive notation regarding family relation mentioned in book all handwritten in green ink on front pastedown; front endpapers toned from laid-in newspaper clipping with impression from removed tape strip; owner's pencil inscription on front free endpaper; occasional ink and pencil check marks at fore-edge margins with marginalia found upon a quick perusal on pages 82, 100, 103, and 111; some soiling to rear endpapers. Binding shaken between rear flyleaf and rear free endpaper where foldout map is tipped-in; binding otherwise still firm. Else a good copy.

This being the 2003 printing does not have the fold out map in the back, instead it is a 2 page printing with the map bound into the book. 85 pages, index. The editor, a Confederate historian, discovered the lost account of the Battle of Corinth in an old farmhouse. He had found it to be the only existing copy. It was written in a simple, straightforward recital and tells the story just the way an old timer sitting around a courthouse at Corinth would talk about what happened. It includes the account of the Court Martial of Gen. Van Dorn, which indicates the weaknesses of the Confederate command and strategy. Bound in black cloth, spine lettering gilt. A fine bright copy in a very good pictorial dust jacket with rubbing to edges.
