In full contemporary leather binding with gilt ruled borders to boards; spine paneled with gilt titling; rebacked, with contemporary leather of spine and boards preserved over the newer leather. Boards show significant shelf wear, with major scuffing and scratching to covers; chipping and exposed board along edges and at fore corners; and major chipping, cracking, and loss of contemporary leather along joints and on spine. Text block shows some wear along edges, with dust soiling along top edge. Very light toning and foxing throughout. Bookplate on front pastedown; front endpaper and title page bear ink and pencil notation/inscriptions. Very sparse pencil and ink marginalia present in early sections of Vol. I. Several leaves throughout all volumes are misnumbered, but remain in sequence; instances where misnumbering has created a gap or otherwise interrupted the continuity of the pagination have been indicated.
