Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for 12 inscriptions from classmates in a class a nearby college who presented the book to "Nikki". Book Condition: Very Good; bumped head and tail; light shelfwear. DJ: Fair-Good; NOT Price Clipped ($2.00); chipping to head and tail; light wear to tips; closed tears to rear panel at top; missing a corner on the lower rear panel. Maroon cloth boards and spine with dull gilt lettering on the spine. Clean internals. Interior hinges are sound and not split. Maps as endpapers. 56 pp 12mo. This is the story of a gallant French girl and the great mountain named for her that lies in the heart of the Arkansas River Valley Province. This the first book in a series to be known as The Story of A State. The additional volumes will deal with various sections of the State of Arkansas and will be written and illustrated by persons in the state whose works are, in the opinion of the Arkansas Foundation, worthy of publication. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.

All the stories had originally been published in Justice magazine in 1955 and 1956. The front cover has some surface creasing and the text block protrudes a little at the right edge. The covers have been cut oddly so that the spine design runs over onto the rear panel. The spine is a little worn with some edge rubbing and chipping at the bottom where there is a one inch crack next to the front cover. The back cover has some surface creasing and marking. The edges of the text block are a little uneven but the binding feels secure. Two light marks to the inside of the front cover, a small closed tear to the edge of page 121 and a small stain to page 65. Browning to the pages which are otherwise unmarked. First printing. Postage charge will be reduced by £1.50 when the order is processed.
