The memoirs of a Lutheran pastor and playwright, who was kidnapped and murdered by the Gestapo when be began to write anti-Nazi plays. This memoir was published after his body was found in a ditch and crystallized Danish opposition to the Nazi occupation. Marbled boards and leather spine lightly rubbed; paper somewhat toned.

The author Kaj Munk (1898-1944) was a Danish playwright and Lutheran pastor who was assassinated by the Gestapo during WWII as a member of the Danish Resistance. This volume of poetry (entitled Last Poems ) was published a year after his death. Very good condition. Retains its paper outer jacket, which has few short tears. Inner jacket has come unglued in one piece from the spine of the text block, but the text block is solid and intact. Interior is clean, with a previous owner name at head of an early blank page. All text in Danish.
