Very scarce T.L.S. 4to. 1 page, King Records, Cincinnati, Ohio, to Sid Prosen, songwriter and record label owner best remembered for discovering Hank Williams and later, Tom & Jerry, better known as Simon and Garfunkel, in full: "Received your letter of the 12th and as requested have had 75 of Hawk…shaw Hawkins record #793 sent to your brother in Silver Springs, Maryland. Hope he can do some good in that territory with it." *Hawkshaw Hawkins stayed with Syd Nathan from 1947 until his death in a plane crash, March 5th 1963, with fellow label mate Cowboy Copas and Patsy Cline. Boldly signed using his rather rare full signature "Sydney Nathan". Fine condition. Iconic American music executive who founded the legendary King Records, a leading independent record label in 1943. He was a major contributor to the development of country and western music, rhythm and blues, and rock and roll, and is credited with discovering many prominent artists, most notably James Brown.
