Has a Foreign or Jewish look. He rooms at the best hotels in Ashland, Ky., and Binghamton, N.Y. He rented rooms in private dwellings for an office. He advertises by passing small hand bills from house to house, sometimes he carries an advertisement in a newspaper. He operates in small towns near a large city. . . He is wanted for robbery of $8,000 March 21, 1922. He was arrested at Binghamton, N.Y., March 5, 1923, on a circular sent out. He gave a cash bond of $2,000. which he forfeited. He is wanted in Cambridge, Mass., under the name of Thomas O. Mozzette for larceny of $11,000, in 1916. No reward was offered. He is also wanted by the Police of Boston, Mass., under the name of Thomas O. Mozzette, for larceny of about $800. When arrested he always gives a cash bond which he forfeits. " [Penciled on photo:] OP35072 Could not find record indicating whether "Prof. O. G. Gilbert" (Thomas O. Mozzette) was captured after this bulletin was issued. This man was also a robber, robbed $8,000 on March 21, 1922. Professor Gilbert is described as having "a foreign or Jewish look." But some could argue that he has "a Protestant or Catholic look." And native Americans could say that 99 percent of USA residents have a "foreign look.".

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. This massive 649-page volume, which comprises four separate books, measures 10.5 x 8 inches and is 2.25 inches thick. It is generously illustrated throughout with each individual artist attributed by name. The images include numerous steel and wood engravings and maps, including one fold-out of t…he entire island, another of the island on two contiguous full pages, in addition to at least one map of each county, many in full color. Several of the steel engravings are protected by a bound page of tissue and are suitable for framing. A number of lovely personal items are tucked into the book, such as a spray of dried fern leaves, a dried baby rose on its branch, and a Sacred Heart holy card written in French. Interestingly, the book has two title pages. The first has a steel engraving and lists Thomas Kelly of New York as publisher. The second title page has no illustration and lists H. H. Taylor of Bay City MI as publisher. Condition: Internally, the book is in Near Fine condition and has no foxing. However, the binding and covers are in Very Good- to Good+ condition; thus the entire volume is in Very Good condition overall.

There is no danger of the board as such becoming detached.There is a presentation page claimed by Daniel. Page 115/6 have a short, closed tear at the head, while pp133/34 have two, one at the tail one on the outer edge. There are other pages with very small tears and not many at that. None affects the print.Ten plates are damp affected, bar one which touches a small part of the print, the stain is always on the blank outer edge. All prints have their tissue guards.There is a large fold out map of Ireland at the back which has been reinforced at the edges and one closed tear repaired. Intermittent minor staining throughout the book. For all its faults, it remains an attractive publication. The binding is solid, profusely illustrated, maps. The 1900 date is taken from Trove, though the printing could well be 1884 or late 19th century.
