Se licenció en la Universidad de Buenos Aires en Filosofía, en 1972, con su tesis El ente y los trascendentales. Buela sufrió en sus propias carnes las consecuencias de la dictadura argentina que comienza con el golpe de Estado de 24 de marzo de 1976. En las cárceles Ğgorilasğ Alberto Buela no pierde el tiempo y aprovecha para sumergirse, por su cuenta y riesgo, en el griego clásico. En 1981 consigue viajar a Bruselas gracias a la CGT, todavía en la clandestinidad, llevando la representación del sindicato peronista ante la OIT. Ya en París, en 1982, obtiene el doctorado en 1984 con una tesis sobre el Fundamento metafisico de la ética en Aristóteles, que aparecerá en negro sobre blanco dos años más tarde. De vuelta a Argentina, Buela se consagra como el principal impulsor de la Metapolítica en Argentina y otros países de habla hispana en el continente y, paralelamente, en uno de los más firmes defensores del valor de la Filosofía desarrollada en Iberoamérica durante los siglos XIX y XX. Autor de numerosos ensayos, Alberto Buela ha encontrado en Ediciones Nueva República y, con posterioridad, en Ediciones Fides un firme baluarte para la difusión de sus tesis y propuestas en España.
