Each print is matted (image size: 15 1/4 x 10"; mat: 18 7/8 x 13"), and numbered and signed in pencil by Brazilian artist Jose Roberto Aguilar at lower margin This series of woodblock prints is considered to be the turning point in the artist's career, as it brought him fame. One of 250 numbered and signed copies, of which this is No. 165. Very minor and sporadic foxing throughout. Text in English and Portuguese. About the artist: Considered to be one of the pioneers of the "New Figuration" movement in Brazil, Jose Roberto Aguilar (born in 1941) is a successful Brazilian painter, video maker, sculptor, musician and curator who worked in London and New York before moving back to his native Sao Paulo.
