Some b/w wood 'cuts' in some plays, but not all - each play printed on different paper and in various conditions, most have some browning, creases and the odd mark, but are overall Good at the least. No Frontispieces to any, but title pages to all. The Dryden is very browned throughout, but uniformly, and all text clear in all plays. See Images. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall.

Full-Leather. Condition: Good. Third Edition. Two Volumes. Third Edition from 1720. Volume I contains mainly verses by Alexander Pope: 'particularly' I Windsor Forest, II Essay on Criticism, III Rape of the Lock, IV Ode on St. Cecilia's Day, V Verses to the Memory of a Lady, VI To Mr Jervas, with Fresnoy's Art of Painting, VII To a Young Lady, with the Works of Voiture, and VIII Eloisa to Abelard. Volume II, Miscellaneous Poems, Translations and Imitations, contains works by a number of authors with the most significant being Dr. William King, Mr. Elisha Fenton, the Revd. Mr. Broome, the Revd. Mr. James Ward and the Reverend Mr. Archdeacon Danie. Volume II contains an index to the contents of both volumes. Both volumes are bound in contemporary full leather binding with five raised bands to the spine. The title and volume labels on the spine are lost although the volume numbers are blind stamped to the spine. The spines have chipping at the top and bottom and some edge cracking. The corners are bumped with some rubbing. Wale Family bookplate to the front pastedowns and the second volume has another family name, Lady Wale, to the front free endpaper. Browning around the edges of the endpapers. Creasing to the top corners of pages 37 to 62 in the first volume. Two sections of the text protrude a little from the rest of the text block in volume II. There is also some browning to the title pages and the frontispiece in Volume I which is a portrait of Pope and the pages are browned but are otherwise generally unmarked.

No ffep. Crossed out name as well as numbers & alphabet written out on front pastedown; all the same C18th hand. Small tear at tail of title page with slight loss of text (the curved part of the P of Peter Buck is missing as is the eet of Fleetstreet). Panelled spine & blind-stamped boards rubbed, bumped & worn with leather missing small patches. Cords showing but entirely sound. Collates exactly with Case; 223. Book.
