Hardcover. Condition: Good. Scarce hardcover - blue cloth boards with gilt title and illustration on cover. Includes 16 lavish tipped-in color plates. Undated, but looks consistent with other 1923 Doran 1st editions, an early printing at least. Cover slightly scuffed and shelfworn with age - gilt on cover slightly dimmed but still visible. Spine almost completely faded, no gilt showing. Front and rear hinges loose with webbing showing through, intact but fragile. Possible point of repair for a collector. Spine cracked, all pages present. A couple faint price/ informational marks in pencil by previous owner on flyleaf and title page. Minor yellowing to page edges. Text and color plates clean with no markings. Overall good copy, and a rarely-seen early printing of the classic fairy tale.
