About the book >.>.> The origin of this project lies in the decision of the Atherstone Archaeological Society to mount a series of guided walks around Roman Mancetter in the late 1980s, to enable interested members of the public, and other archaeological societies, to become aware of the importance of Roman Mancetter. The suggestion was made by Keith Scott, who, with myself as Chairman, led the walks. It became clear that 'handouts' were needed and these expanded in content as the 'Roman Trail' became popular. My successor as Chairman of the Society, Philip Taylor, encouraged me to increase the written contents and to add an account of the Boudican Revolt, he also continued the trail walks as leader. From a personal point of view, due to major health problems affecting my wife, the drafts of the Roman Mancetter text have lain untouched for a number of years. However, I have been motivated to bring the project forward again, and after a complete revision of the contents, here it is.
