La couverture reprend l'imagerie essentialisante des noirs, issue des stéréotypes colonialistesmais également inspirée par la découverte récente de la population africaine après la réquisition descontingents sub-saharien pour la guerre de 1914. Ces images véhiculent une vision stigmatisante et terriblement raciste à l'encontre des africains mais trahissent paradoxalement un début d'acceptation de la différence et un regard qui se veut affectueux bien que paternaliste sur la négritude. Très bel exemplaire de cette partition originale, d'une grande qualité graphique en dépit de son thème raciste. | [ENGLISH DESCRIPTION FOLLOWS] First edition of this piano score illustrated on the first cover with a color drawing by an anonymous artist. Tribute to Louis Reynaud, inventor of a whitening product for laundry. Central fold without consequence, otherwise handsome copy. The cover reproduces the essentializing imagery of blacks, derived from colonialist stereotypes but also inspired by the recent discovery of the African population after the requisition of sub-Saharan contingents for the 1914 war. These images convey a stigmatizing and terribly racist vision towards Africans but paradoxically betray a beginning of acceptance of difference and a gaze that aims to be affectionate though paternalistic towards blackness. Very handsome copy of this original score, of great graphic quality despite its racist theme. *.
