Paperback: embellished with numerous illustrations from designs by Tony Johannot (hand coloured (?) colour frontispiece + many text illustrations), original wraps are slightly marked, creases, edges lightly rubbed, spine is missing and h…as been covered with gauze, internally the binding has been re-glued and a few page folds have been strengthened with paper tape, inscription (dated 1847) on reverse of front flyleaf, some wear on the inside edge of the front flyleaf and colour frontispiece (which is also partially loose), small piece missing from lower edge of the title page, internal marks, back flyleaf missing etc - a fair copy of a scarce mid 19th century children's fantasy (also includes the story 'The Idiot and his Birds'. 16mo, 66 pages + 10 publisher's catalogue featuring 'Boy's Own Library and Boy's Own Book.
