(Dureau 155). "This book is one of the most thorough and balanced to be written by a partisan of the fluid theory. The first part discusses the faculties of the soul, the nature of sleep, and natural somnambulism. The second part deals with artificial somnambulism, which Noizet finds indentical in essence to natural somnambulism." (Crabtree 726). Caillet n° 8048.". Signé par l'auteur.

Add to basketCouverture rigide. Condition: Très bon. Edition originale. » - - - - - - - - - - - - - - One of the main links between Mesmer and Freud : All historians of psychiatry and psychoanalysis agree on the historical importance of these two books: The memoirs of General Noizet published in 1859 and the printing of the memoir written three years after Father Faria's « lucid summit ». The curious absence of this work in public libraries can be linked to the fact that General Noizet reserved copies for his friends and privileged correspondents. The copy we are proposing is particularly significant because it is the first one we have encountered with handwritten notes, probably by the recipient's hand. These notes, which have never been published before, are written on interleaf sheets, these critical notes are sometimes marked by a certain irony, often scepticism and sometimes contain proposals of apparent naivety but which may be enlightening for the future of magnetism and for the future psychology of the depths.ll « What has always amazed me is that the professional magnetizer did not try to put the madmen to sleep, even fools. If then they became lucid, what better proof would it be of the existence of the soul. « Reflections suggested to me by reading this book: the soul must be the same for everyone, why does an individual have genius, and another not. By trying to explain everything, and in a natural way what is supernatural, we risk falling into error. All the explanations that would tend to prove for the soul the necessity of the life of the organs, seem to fit little with the state of nullity where somnambulism plunges them. How is it that the slightest disturbance in the brain, pure matter, deprives the soul of its wisdom, lucidity, power? what is the relationship of the soul to the body and why does the disorder of the body bring that of the soul? I wish to submit these thoughts to an educated man. ».

Add to basketCouverture rigide. Condition: Très bon. Edition originale.
